Sensory Processing:

  • Click here for a create your own sand recipe! This activity could include ocean animals, spoons/scoops for increased engagement as well as pretend play. Food coloring could be added for varying colors. To address olfactory, you could add a little bit of tangerine oil for a fun summer smell!

Leisure Summer Activities!


Many of these activities address multiple OT areas such as engaging in a scavenger hunt with family or friends for socio-emotional engagement, gross motor movements via the tic-tac-toe sheet, or fine motor skills via the summer activity calendar that is full of craft and activity ideas)

  • Summer Bucket List

  • Summer Activity Calendaractivities include June, July, and August calendars with daily activities including fine motor crafts, sensory exploration, gross motor, as well as outdoor exploration.

    • There are 3 separate calendars within the link above 

    • Level 1 = preschool 

    • Level 2 = grade 2-4 

    • Level 3 = grade 5 and above

  • Scavenger Hunt: activities include gross motor, visual motor, fine motor, and socio-emotional participation (i.e. completing scavenger hunt with sibling, parent, friend, etc.)

  • Tic Tac Toe: activity includes a tic tac toe board with a variety of gross motor activities

1. Read or listen to the audio version of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar"


Activities: labeling the food he eats, identification of food items, requesting to "turn the page" (if you have a recordable button or AAC), coloring a caterpillar and requesting crayon colors, and making a caterpillar. 




2. Bucket Scavenger Hunt 


Activity: Grab a bucket and fill it with eggs, flowers (fake or real), baby animal figurines or pictures, a baggie full of green grass, a baggie with soil, a packet of seeds, a small shovel, gardening gloves, a flip flop, picture of a butterfly or other insects, etc. 


Activity addresses: identification, labeling, and descriptive language 



3. Planting a Flower 


Materials: Dollar tree seeds, soil, and pot; directions with pictures 


Activity addresses: following directions, descriptive language, WH questions
